Conferences on physics and chemistry held in Brussels by the International Institutes for physics and chemistry.

Belgian chemist and industrialist Ernest Solvay founded the conferences with the first in physics in 1911.

Notable Solvay Conferences are the first and the fifth.

First conference, Hendrik Lorentz was chairman of the first Solvay conference. Albert Einstein was the second youngest physicist present, 31.

Fifth Conference on electrons and photons. Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr were leading figures..

17 of the 29 attendees were or became Nobel Prize winners.

Some of the participants were : M. Curie, M Planck, L. De Broglie, E. Schrodinger, M. Born, P. Dirac, A Compton, P Debye.

The next, the 28th Solvay Conference will be Thursday October 21,2021 – Saturday October 23, 2021 on physics (By invitation only!).
