Amenhotep II was the son of Thutmose III and minor wife; Merytre-Hatshepsut.
He is one of the few New Kingdom mummies to be found within his tomb. Discovered in March 1898 by Victor Loret in the KV35 tomb in the Valley of the Kings, Amenhotep II’s body remained within his sarcophagus.
